Although next year timetables are yet to be finalised, course selection is now finished. Any changes to student courses will now take place in January.

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Miss M. Hunneyball.

This is a whole year course for all 3 NCEA levels. We will start by exploring the world of Elizabethan London. Learn how and why Shakespeare wrote what he did. Gain confidence in reading and understanding the language and imagery of Shakespeare. Experience preparing for and performing in front of an audience of your peers. Or if you want to, take your play to SGCNZ Regional Festival.  We will then look at Epic Theatre. This will involve reading a play then casting, designing, creating and performing. Working as a collective we will decide and negotiate everything from who will have which role to which scenes to bring to life and not just acting. There will be scope for non actors to excel in design and theatre technologies. Maybe you're a secret stage manager but just don't know it yet! Try your hand at directing if you wish. Have a go at costume design. Internal standards at Level 2 and 3 are flexible, through discussion with the teacher, especially if students are doing multiple Drama STEAM courses. Not all standards are shown here. Theatre technology unit standards are also available.
