Spotswood College
Te Marautanga Ako - Our Curriculum Design
Our curriculum has been purposefully designed so that every student can engage in learning opportunities to achieve academic and personal excellence. Literacy, Numeracy, Digital Literacy, and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) are emphasised across our curriculum as well as Inquiry and Design Thinking allowing for a range of opportunities for authentic demonstration of deep thinking and learning. Learning has been designed to allow for personalised pathways across a range of programmes.
Timetable
Our School runs on a weekly timetable and the school year is divided into two semesters (except for year 11 students as they have full year courses). The timetable structures below show where all the Learning Areas are situated in the timetable (i.e Literacy, Numeracy, STEAM, Learning Programme 2, etc). Each Learning Area will have a range of different courses for students to select from.
Junior Timetable Structure (Year 9-Year 10)
Senior Timetable Structure (Year 11-Year 13)
How To View Relevant Courses
The 'Learning Areas' link in the sidebar menu will take you to all the Learning Areas for the junior and senior timetable. Students need to make ONE course selection from each Learning Area situated in their relevant 2025 timetable. Year 11 Learning Areas run for the full year and this is reflected in their name (i.e Senior Numeracy Level 1 (Full Year)). When students enroll at Spotswood College and are entered into our SchoolPoint course selection platform, they will only be presented with the relevant courses for them to select.
